Geological Research Authority Hosts Risk Management Talks
Khartoum – Essam Ali
Consultant Geologist Mujtaba Ibrahim Mahjoub, Executive Director of the General Authority for Geological Research (GAGR) and the Authority’s focal point within the national risk management system, said the Authority hosted the second meeting of the Technical Committee tasked with developing Sudan’s institutional risk management framework, unified risk register and focal points’ operational guide.
The committee was formed under Ministry of Finance and National Economy Undersecretary Decision No. 77 to discuss requirements for activating risk management systems across government institutions.
The meeting reviewed the implementation matrix for the Ministry of Finance’s institutional risk management framework, timelines for preparing and approving the risk register, and plans to establish a dedicated risk management unit. Discussions also covered training and awareness programmes and the adoption of a policies and procedures manual defining the roles of various departments in line with the International Organization for Standardization’s ISO 31000:2018 risk management standard.
Mahjoub added that the committee had scheduled its next meeting for Oct. 25 to finalize the focal points’ operational guide and submit recommendations on adopting a unified national risk register, along with a risk management programme and register for the country’s senior state institutions.
