“CBOS” Launches Credit Agency

Ms. Amna Mirghani Hassan Al-Toum, Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan (CBoS), officially inaugurated operations at the headquarters of the Credit Information and Rating Agency (CIRA) on Al-Gomhoria Street in Khartoum, following its rehabilitation.

 

The move is part of the CBoS efforts to restore operations at its headquarters and supporting institutions in Khartoum State.

 

The Governor was accompanied by CBoS Deputy Governors Mr. Al-Muatasim Abdullah Ahmed and Dr. Sami Abdelhafiz Saleh, in the presence of CIRA’s Director General, a representative of the Sudanese Banks Union (SBU), and directors general of various CBoS departments.

 

The Governor inspected CIRA’s operations and commended its management and staff for maintaining their work under the highly challenging circumstances facing the country. She directed that approved projects be expedited in coordination with the relevant CBoS departments.

 

For her part, Ms. Mona Ahmed Al-Bashir, Director General of CIRA, along with the Agency’s staff, expressed their appreciation to the Governor for her continued interest in and close follow-up of CIRA’s operations.

 

CIRA is an independent legal entity established under the Credit Information and Rating Act of 2011. Headquartered in Khartoum State, it operates under the supervision of the CBoS Governor.

 

The Agency provides credit information services, prepares credit files for customers, issues credit reports on the indebtedness of customers of banks and financial institutions, and conducts credit ratings. It also ensures the confidentiality of information and data and facilitates their exchange with corresponding foreign agencies.
