KHARTOUM — Fath Al-Rahman Zlfou
Gezira State Gov. Al-Tahir Ibrahim Al-Khair has stressed the importance of maintaining internal unity and strengthening coordination between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and supporting forces, praising the state’s efforts to promote community reconciliation, peaceful coexistence and combat hate speech.
Speaking during a meeting with a delegation from the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM), led by Minni Arko Minnawi, Al-Khair said the state government had made concerted efforts to recover from the effects of the war.
He noted that a social peace conference, attended by representatives of around 200 kampo settlements and leaders of the Native Administration, had helped strengthen national unity and mend the social fabric.
For his part, delegation head Mohamed Abdelkarim Jidda said the visit aimed to inspect the movement’s offices in the state and improve their operations, as well as visit the families of those killed in the conflict.
He expressed satisfaction with the recovery underway in Gezira, highlighting the state’s pivotal role in Sudan’s national economy.
The movement’s leader in the state, Dr Abdelrahman Issa, underscored the importance of continued coordination and joint efforts with the state government on national and community issues.
