Khartoum – fjajpress
Sudanese private and non-government universities and colleges have announced their readiness to return to their original campuses and resume academic and administrative activities, in line with the timeline set by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research as part of efforts to restore stability to the higher education sector.
The announcement came during a meeting held by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Ahmed Madawi Musa, with directors of private and non-government universities and colleges, attended by ministry officials, marking the first meeting of its kind since the outbreak of the war.
The minister stressed that the return of universities to their original locations is no longer a matter that can be postponed, but has become a national and academic necessity driven by the requirements of recovery and reconstruction. He affirmed the ministry’s commitment to providing the necessary support and overcoming obstacles that may hinder the implementation of the return plan.
The meeting discussed the readiness of private higher education institutions to resume operations from their permanent campuses, as well as relocation requirements and challenges related to infrastructure, services, and administrative procedures, ensuring a safe and organized return to the educational process.
University administrations reaffirmed their commitment to working with the ministry to ensure the success of the return plan, stabilize academic activities, and support students. The meeting also agreed to continue coordination and consultations to complete the necessary arrangements in the coming period.
